About the artist
 WILLIAM
CRAFTS THOMPSON
AMERICAN ARTIST
William
Crafts Thompson was born in Beverly, Massachusetts and as
a very young child had a compelling interest in art—observing
fine paintings and drawing and sketching from the age of six.
He studied at Vesper George School of Art in Boston where
he studied graphic design. Following graduation, he worked
as a cartographer and cartoonist while developing his own
unique painting style.
As a self-taught
painter, William Thompson’s work combines his fine eye
for composition, an impressionistic treatment of paint, a
base of fine drawing skills, and a color palette uniquely
his own.
Inspiration
for his work comes from actual locations where he sketches
and paints on the scene. His sketchbook has been his "diary"
on his travels throughout the United States, Great Britain,
Europe, and the West Indies. A resident of suburban Boston
and Nantucket, he has been profoundly influenced by his life
by the sea.
A Copley
Artist (life member), William Crafts Thompson creates paintings
of quality and beauty that are found in private and corporate
collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has painted,
exhibited, conducted workshops, and judged shows throughout
New England. His passion for life and creating is evident
in all of his work.

"All my paintings originate from deep inspiration. I
paint to please myself. There’s a painting everywhere
I look…I’m always studying the skies and everything
around me. Each time I put my brush on the canvas I learn
something new. Each painting is a terrific challenge and adds
to my wealth of knowledge. My heart and soul goes into each
of my paintings. Painting refreshes my past and inpires my
future. I’m passionate about life and am always looking
forward to the future!"
